Curl Hair

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

You don’t have to go to a hairstylist to get those lovely curls. The information below describes how to start curling hair by yourself.

How to Curl with a Curling Iron

Required Tools and Materials

Curling iron
Styling gel or mousse
Brush
Soft hold hairspray (optional)
Light hold hairspray

Step 1

Put some mousse or gel to your hair. Allow it to dry naturally or blow dry it.

Step 2

Clip the hair back into several parts. If there are any tangles, use a comb to get rid of it. Extra fine hair doesn’t hold curls easily, so put some soft-hold hairspray on it.

Step 3

Start by going to the undersection of the hair. From there, work up to the top. Take a small section of hair. Use your fingers to twist it into spiral curls. If you want loose curling hair, grab flat and larger sections.

Step 4

Press the curling iron’s lever and put it on your hair. As you close the curling iron barrel on the hair, ensure the hair section ends are within the barrel.

Step 5

Roll the iron up. Hold for ten seconds. Now open the curling iron and let the curls go. Repeat this step for all the other hair sections until they’re all curled.

Step 6

Shake out the curls by flipping your head. Use your fingers to arrange your hair.

Step 7

Apply a bit of light hold hairspray to keep the curls in place. If the weather is humid, apply humid resistant curling hair spray instead.

How to Curl Dry Hair

Required Tools and Materials

Hot rollers
Hairspray
Roller clips

Step 1

Plug in your hot rollers and allow it to heat up. This may take up to five minutes or more, depending on the product.

Step 2

Partition your hair into four sections as the rollers get hot. Begin by making a line down the scalp, making for two sections. Now create another line in the middle along the first line. This line must be horizontal.

Step 3

Once the rollers are heated, put them in your hair. Put on three or five rollers per hair section. Keep them secure by putting on roller clips.

Step 4

When curling hair, give the rollers time to cool (20 minutes should be enough). Remove the rollers one at a time. Run your hands through the hair. Separate the curls. Spray the curls with some hairspray.

Notes on Frizzy Hair

Before you start, wash the hair. You should also apply some hair conditioner designed for frizzy hair. Dry the hair with a towel and apply leave-in conditioner. Now comb it.

Put some smoothing serum at the hair ends. Do not get any on the roots. Add some hair gel and apply the rollers. Use rollers that will keep the hair smooth during the curling period.

Curling hair isn’t difficult, whether your hair is dry or frizzy. As long as you prepare the hair in the manner suggested, you’ll get those curls in a matter of minutes.
